So, I’ve started dating this person, and we decided to be dating exclusively each other which is really exciting! And, I really want to kiss them, but I’m afraid of taking things too fast (like I’ve done before) and messing things up. So, to make myself deal with the waiting period, I’m pretending that Im in a Tv show, or a movie, and that everyone else is holding their breathe for us to kiss, and not just me. Because, for some reason, that makes it a little bit easier to hold off on possibly going too fast, because building tension is one of the best things a storyteller/writer can do. So, I might as build tension in my own story that I am living.

Sometimes when I get get stress jittery at work ( behind the cash register) I lightly strike at the air, which I call punching out the zombies. I do this instead of the stress lunges, because I think it looks “less weird”. Although, I may have to reevaluate my levels of weird if I think punching imaginary zombies is “less weird” than any other thing.

My mom and i were watching this show, Arrow, where there is a white man who kills ‘bad guys’ with poison arrows. But, wait theres more! In this particular episode, they talked about gentrification and the white savior complex( for like a minute but still!) I want to watch the first few episodes to see if the rest of the show is as awesome as this one episode was!

So, this rich white lady comes in with her little daughter, who is wandering around and messing with the displays. That in itself is not really a big deal. I’m just setting the scene.

So, this lady wants to do a return. again OK

She then starts berating me on how the clearance movies she bought (from a USED book store) were ‘scratched all to hell’. This is not OK. Here is where she messed up.

I hope she never comes back to the store if she is going to take that attitude to a USED book store. I mean come on and take some responsibility for what you are spending your money on. And look at the damn dvds BEFORE you buy them, especially if they are only 1 or 2 bucks.

She was just so arrogant, expecting the employees and the manager to take care of her every whim. I would wish that she would go fuck herself, but I wouldn’t want to wish something as awesome as sex on her. Instead. I hope her daughter cuts her own hair right before the big party they will inevitably host, I hope her iphone screen cracks right after the warranty expires, but most of all I hope she starts taking some goddamn responsibility for her actions.

or how about dreads aren’t exclusive to POC seeing as the celts, scandinavians, vikings, and many biblical figures wore them as well. get your head out of your ass. you’re not a special snowflake.

The Celts and Scandinavians/vikings did not wear dreads (the celts limed their hair which is completely different from locking it, and both celts and scandinavians wore their hair long and braided which is also completely different from locking it, there is no definite evidence for either culture wearing locs), and the biblical figures were PoC and many of them may have had afro-textured hair. In fact, there is a line in the bible describing jesus as having hair “like wool”.

White-textured hair does NOT loc, it only mats, and trying to imitate black people’s locs is appropriative and racist because of the history of black people being dehumanized and mocked for the natural texture of their hair.

end of story.

EDIT: the closest non-black hairstyle to locs is jata which is matted hair worn by certain religious Indian men, and has a great religious significance in India and thus should not be appropriated by anyone else.
